The first in an ongoing series of bandanas that feature local edible and medicinal flowers. In particular, I'm interested in exploring plants that were used in traditional 'roots' medicine and how they became part of the culture.
This bandana features the flower commonly known as a 'Coneflower'. It grows wild and in gardens all over Washington DC. I didn't know until I started researching that this is Echinacea. The same Echinacea that comes in cough drops and supplements. I love discovering things like this that help me feel connected to my surroundings and history.

Bandana care: cold water wash in a gentle cycle or by hand. Some color fading is to be expected as the bandana softens with use.
